DragonFire Coaches

WechatIMG2

[from left to right: M.D.Salauddin, Ya Ping, Amy Xu]

Our three excellent coaches going to leader this camp during the summer. Because of the large amount of diversity in our club, our coaches also come from all corners of the world and as a club we bring an international perspective on swimming and training. Our coaches are bilingual, can speak English and Chinese. Some of our swimmers don’t speak English or Chinese, and so we have coaches at DragonFire that are able to communicate with those swimmers through movement as well.

In particular, 3 of our coaches at DragonFire come from 3 different parts of the world, bringing in unique perspectives on coaching (pictured above). These 3 coaches in particular bring 3 very different yet distinctive coaching styles to DragonFire, and with their backgrounds coming from China, Bangladesh, and United States, these three coaches are able to coach a wide range of swimmers, teaching them unique and different styles of training.

Amy Xu

Amy came to DragonFire last year, and before she came to our club she was living in Denver, Colorado, where she coached for Hilltoppers Swim Club, one of the top age group clubs in Colroado. She coached at Hilltoppers Swim Club for 3 years, in which she coached two 11-year old girls and two 12- year old boys that ranked in the top 10 for their age group in the United States. Amy also received her Master’s Degree in Sport and Performance Psychology and swam collegiately for 4 years at a Division I School in the United States. Amy is fluent in English and Chinese and coaches at the Western Academy of Beijing in addition to the Canadian School.

Yu Ya Ping

Ya Ping was chosen to join the Chinese National Team in 2006, and in 2012 at the Chinese National Swimming Championships she was the 200 Backstroke champion for China and came top 10 in the 100 Backstroke. Since she has retired from swimming for the Chinese National Team, she has worked for a variety of clubs around in Beijing, as well as many one-on-one coaching. Ya Ping brings a very experienced Chinese coaching style into DragonFire, where she emphasizes technical skills for her swimmers.

Salauddin

Salauddin has coached with DragonFire for almost 10 years, and has coached many, successful swimmers from all over the world. Salauddin received his Bachelor’s and Master’s from Beijing Sport University in 2014 in Physical Education and Training Program. He is fluent in Chinese and English and has a strong background in foundations of sport training. Salauddin trains the Advanced groups at the Canadian School. More than 10 international school champion got training from him.Salauddin also has a strong background and experience in administration management, organizational management and therefore oversees DragonFire’s season schedules, training groups, swim meets, and coaches’ training.

The rest of our coaching staff also come from different parts of the world, and bring in many innovative, new styles of coaching to our swimmers. As a club, we collaborate as a coaching staff, and under the leadership of Kevin Hua, we are able to create a great comradery within our coaching staff and we strive to make sure that our swimmers find that love for swimming, as well as learning important skills to be successful in the water.
